Quarter Square Triangle Blocks
4" x 4" (finished -- Make 6 (six)
November and December blocks will involve making small filler blocks. Make the number required and sew together as instructed. We're almost there, folks!
There are different options for piecing these quarter square triangle blocks. I prefer to cut my triangles individually, which lets me use more of a variety of colors. You can also use a quick piecing method if you prefer. Directions are given for cutting them individually.

1. Cut 3 (three) 5 1/4" squares from light fabrics
2. Cut 3 (three) 5 1/4" squares from dark/medium fabrics.
3. Cut the squares in half diagonally TWICE like the illustration above.
4. Sew together light and dark triangles in pairs.

5. Sew these together into six squares. Mix and match the halves -- they don't have to match! Your finished square should measure 4 1/2". You will have enough for eight, so choose SIX and sew together in groups of three (like the picture below), turning the blocks so that the light and dark triangles are against each other. It does not matter which direction the first block is turned.
