Partitioned Blocks Sara Nephew's Three Sided Patchwork: In the Fall of 1999 I bought Sara Nephew's Clear View / Super 60 Ruler. I have had her book "Stars and Flowers/Three Sided Patchwork" for quite awhile and decided to see if I could use my knowledge of line partitioning to draw one of her quilts in hopes of trying something new and different for me in my quiltmaking. If you want to see more of Sara's quilts & books and even a ruler that will help you make one of these beauties, check out her website: Clearview Triangles: Quilts & Books by Sara Nephew Sometimes I don't know what possesses me. First, I had to figure out how to draw a near perfect hexagon within a block. What I did first was to make a one block quilt in the Baby Block setting without any borders. I took a snapshot, saved it as a bitmap and then I imported it and traced just the hexagon outine as a block. I had to experiment with the grid and discovered that a 36 x 36 grid worked very well!! Hey.....I don't claim to be a math genius, I just know when it looks right! Here are the results..... I exported the quilts without "lines", because they looked so much better. You can look at the block picture to see how it was drawn. Applause, please............ :-)
